Like 860 mps on the AP and 900 mps on the HE shell. Each of these have guns with a higher muzzle velocity than the Alaska. The Light Battleship Project 25, the Project 69 Kronshtadt, and the Project 82 Stalingrad. Why? Because the Russian tree line may have at least three of them. Sooner or later WG will have to bring in 12" gun battleships on the high tier. But since the Gneisenau gets away with 22 x 128mm DP guns on Tier 7, that opens the way for USN capital ships to have 5"/38 DP guns on Tier 7. I assumed Tier 8 previously due to the AA. Right now, an Alaska is more like to be a Tier 7 battleship or battlecruiser. Once a gun gets past 9", the ship that carries it isn't going to the CA/CL tree. That's why even the more deserving to be called cruiser Deutschland class isn't on the game as cruisers. The Alaska won't be a cruiser in the game, WG doesn't care completely what others call it, they have an internal classification of their own. Given how WG constructed the German tree, it gives you insight to some of the rules, guidelines and policies they have with the tiering. The Alaska's 12" guns are not Tier X guns, they perform more like Tier V battleship guns.

(Slotting it as an Ultra-Heavy Cruiser also leaves room T8 for a Possible South Dakota-class premium BB like the USS Massachusetts to show up) Maybe bump it's RoF slightly to about 3.2 and it'd make for a sound entry despite it's lack or Torpedos and has a prayer of standing on it's own against a possible Tier 10 match. However it's got speed on par with Myoko/Mogami good rudder shift and Maybe Atago-like visibility? Just give it a superior AA suite and the ship should be pretty well-balanced the point would be for it to avoid taking hits and keeping your distance similarly like the Molotov is at T6. Hipper, Kutuzov, Tirpitz would rip it up fast and Nagato/North Carolina/Colorado could potentially Single-Salvo it, with no chance against a decent T7 DD captain.

It would conceptually be similar to the Molotov where she has T9 guns on a T5 hull This case we'd be talking T10+ Guns (hit harder than DesMoines but lower RoF) on a Glass Hull. Honestly I feel like The Alaska/Guam would fit well as a T8 Premium Cruiser.
